Ria Braaksma

My name is Ria Braaksma, and my husband and I immigrated from Holland to Canada in 1993.

I grew up in what you would call an entrepreneurial family, and I have always been drawn to business and working with people. In Holland, my husband was a dairy farmer, and after moving to Canada we became involved in the beef industry.

My name is Ria Braaksma, and my husband and I immigrated from Holland to Canada in 1993.

I grew up in what you would call an entrepreneurial family, and I have always been drawn to business and working with people. In Holland, my husband was a dairy farmer, and after moving to Canada we became involved in the beef industry.

During our first years in Canada, I worked in several offices in Edmonton in both sales and administration. I also studied Business Management at the University of Alberta.

Even before moving to Canada, I had already started studying to become a realtor in Holland. Living on a farm in Alberta and working closely with the agricultural community inspired me to pursue a career in Real Estate here as well.

I started my career in Stony Plain as a Commercial and Farm Realtor and joined Real Estate Centre in 2013.

With personal experience in farming, as well as owning businesses myself, I truly enjoy working in Farm Real Estate and Commercial Real Estate. I enjoy working with all kinds of people and properties and believe strongly in working together with my clients as a team.

I am currently licensed in both Alberta and Saskatchewan, which means I spend many hours and kilometres on the road in my 4x4.

In my free time, I enjoy reading and taking walks in nature. I speak Dutch and Frisian fluently, understand some German, and speak a little German as well — although I am a bit rusty. I have always enjoyed languages and am currently learning Spanish.

My thoughts about Real Estate are simple: you are never too young to own a piece of property. There will always be ups and downs in life and in the market, but it is important to keep focusing on the opportunities ahead. For some, it is time to buy, and for others, it is time to let go and sell.
